Python, Django, Ping.fm and Seesmic

It's a good sign when I play with new toys.

Python is one of my favorite languages though I don't use it much in day to day work. Today, I finally got around to playing with Django, a modern web framework using the Python programming language. PyPI (think CPAN for Python) is looking good. Zope (both 2 and 3) look pretty much dead which makes me cautious to invest heavily in yet another framework. I also started on Mark Pilgrim's Dive into Python 3.

Ping.fm (an awesome service to update multiple social network accounts at once) was recently acquired by Seesmic, a rich Twitter client. This has the potential to make Seesmic more than another pretty interface, Ping.fm is a truly useful social networking tool. Here's the announcement from the Seesmic side.

I chanced on the acquisition post while Pinging that I'd finally tried Django. On the web, once thing leads to another!
